It's about time

If it weren't for my kids and co-workers, I would still be using a Palm Pilot and trying to beat Duke Nukem.  I've often said that I was on the caboose of the technology train.  I realize now that many young people might ask, "What's a caboose?"

So it's time that I fulfill a personal goal and start blogging.  The title of "Moonshadow Preacher" comes from my excitement of thinking about how a moon shadow is a great illustration for explaining how God can be understood as a trinity.

When you see your moon shadow, you are seeing something that is the direct result of energy produced on the Sun that is not directly visible at the time and almost 93 million miles away.  Light energy from the sun bounces off a solid piece of rock called the Moon which is visible but still some 240,000 miles away. Finally, that same light energy touches you and conforms to your unique surface and forms a shadow on the ground beneath you.

This is a fascinating way to think of how one God can be a trinity of three in one.  The sun is similar to God the creator.  The moon represents Jesus Christ as the Son of God who reflects God's light to the world.  The light that touches us is like the Holy Spirit which is a direct connection to the source of the energy and the source of all life. So God is like the one light that takes three entities for us to experience it.  We couldn't see a moon shadow without all three of those elements being present: the source of the light, reflected off the moon and touching us.  Traditional language would use the terms of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

My life purpose is to follow Jesus and seek God's peace through healthy relationships.  I only have so much time to make a difference so I better get to it.  In order to stay relevant and be successful I'll need some help from others such as my kids and coworkers.  Most importantly, I need help from God. The good news is that God's help is directly available to me through Jesus. I am reminded of that every time I see my moon shadow.
